Title: Network Engineering Manager

Location: Remote from anywhere in the US, but Dallas or San Antonio is highly preferred for occasional onsite meetings.

Type: 6-month Contract-to-hire

 

Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Network Engineering Manager to lead our team of network engineers and drive the design, implementation, and maintenance of our enterprise network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess adept technical knowledge of Cisco routers and switches, and prior experience managing network security audits to ensure compliance with PCI, DSS, and SOX requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of network engineers responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining LAN/WAN infrastructure.
  • Architect, configure, and optimize network systems primarily using Cisco routers, switches, and related technologies.
  • Drive network security implementations and oversee compliance.
  • Develop and enforce network security policies, access controls, and firewall configurations.
  • Collaborate with IT security, compliance, application, and infrastructure teams to align network operations with overall IT strategy.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for network infrastructure, security, policies, and procedures.
  • Evaluate new networking technologies and vendors to ensure the organization remains on the cutting edge of performance and security.

 

Must Haves:
  • A minimum 7+ years of experience designing and implementing complex networking solutions at-scale.
  • Professional experience with Cisco networking hardware, including routers, switches, and firewalls (e.g., ASA, Catalyst, Nexus).
  • Prior experience leading Network Engineering teams.
  • Strong experience managing network security audits and compliance programs, with specific emphasis on PCI DSS and SOX.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), VPNs, VLANs, and QoS.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, Wireshark).
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.

 

Nice-to-Haves:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Cisco certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, etc.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with network automation (e.g., Ansible, Python scripting).
  • Prior experience in a highly regulated industry (finance, healthcare, etc.).
